Top 10 of 2021 - Patios, Ponds, Outdoor Living
It wasn’t that long ago COVID happened. It was a bit rough. Travel was almost completely nixed. Consequently 2020 was coined The Year of the Home. Boy was it. As we entered 2021, the trend continued. We were asked many times to use the vacation budget to create a place where experiences, conversations, and life could happen steps from the living room. We happily accepted the challenge. We are honored to change the landscape around Hampton Roads, consequently changing the way our clients live outdoors.

Keeping up with the Jones’s?! Not quite. Both neighbors wanted a fireplace thought. It was really cool to build two spaces side by side with many of the same elements though. The best part: they both came out with a different feel and vibe.

9. Party on the River
Right by the Jamestown ferry, this stretch of the river is beautiful! They wanted a space they could enjoy throughout the year. They now have a fire table for cocktails and dinner, a kitchen for the occasional party, even fire pit for the family to gather. 365 views here we come!

6. A Little Putt-Putt
You may recognize this space. It was #4 from our Top Ten of 2020. They already have the perfect space, but they wanted to see what else they could add…a little golfing? We installed this compact three-hole course, now can hang out at the bar/kitchen and enjoy a friendly game.

5. Ready to Fish?
4. Grand Entry
An oddly positioned home and front door made the whole home awkward. They were embarrassed. Now they feel proud every step on the way to the front door.

3. Let’s Add a Pool
There was no master plan when we built the first patio, through COVID they wanted their own pool. Now they can flow seamlessly from the original patio, to a pool, to a view of the river.

2. Live in Nature
Massive slope in the backyard waiting to be utilized, blank canvas. Through stone work, pavers, and a pond, they now have a yard to enjoy nature and their mini-farm

1. Sunken Fire Pit
I believe every yard needs to create an experience. The goal was a destination fire pit just steps from the pool and space we created just a year before. A 32’ waterfall rushing around a sunken fire pit seemed to fit the bill.
