Knowing Your Water Feature

Knowing Your Water Feature

When I talk to someone who doesn’t own a pond with fish, and I tell them about fish personalities, they look at me like I have a third arm and a horn coming out of my forehead. If you have a goldfish or koi pond, you know what I am talking about. My fish knew when it was me walking up to the side of the pond vs my kids or wife. I knew who the bully was, I also knew who needed extra food. Our goal is to partner with you and get to know your pets. We have a list of services below to assist you in enjoying your water feature to the fullest extend.

Deluxe Koi or Goldfish Pond Cleanout

Just need a tune up or a yearly cleaning? A drain and clean can go a long way to help get plants in check, keep debris from collecting, and give your pond a sparkle. If a pond is left too long without a cleaning, debris can build up and make it a little difficult to balance the water.

Pondless Waterfall & Fountain Cleanout

Obviously, pondless waterfalls and fountains need love too. Just because they don’t have fish doesn’t mean I don’t love them. They do traditionally take less maintenance than ponds though. Typically, they do not have filtration systems, so we rely on plants and moving water to keep them clean. We have auto-dosing systems to help keep.

Water Feature Renovations and Repairs

Just like Clint Eastwood, water features age and get old. Entropy. Personally, I like Sylvester Stallone, but he’s getting old too. Dang it!

As ponds age, they need love. We see many bizarre ponds needing TLC, old DIY filtration systems that only an engineer could’ve built. Sometimes they just need a shot of Botox like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Okay, I promise no more muscle references.

If you have an older feature in need of a few updates, we would love to help. Skimmers are our most popular upgrades. No more getting in the pond or messing with a tangle of netting to keep the pump clean.

Pond Plants

I get most excited about the plants. A well planted water feature brings copious amounts of wildlife right to the water. They can find their host plants as well as food and water. It’s kind of like it was designed that way. Terrestrial plants also love being near water and can benefit from being planted with roots in the pond.
Pond plants also help tremendously with water clarity. One of my fix-it-all solutions is sweet potato vine. Through a couple on the edge of a pond or waterfall, they explode in size, but they also use excess nutrients in the water column. Win-win, and maybe another win because of the visual.
